Forbes looking to put jumps ‘together’
DAMAR FORBES produced a jump of 8.07 metres at the Birmingham Diamond League to finish sixth place in the competition, but said he would have done better had he not just stepped off the plane.
Forbes, 25, landed from America eight hours before he took to the runway at the Alexander stadium. He told The Gleaner that had he been allowed to produce more than three jumps, he might have gone even further.
"To jump 8.07m with no rest, no warm up, just stepping off the plane, I can't really complain too much," Forbes admitted.
"If I had another three jumps who knows how far I could have gone? I felt like I was just warming up. I don't really like the new rule."
Pleased with his season to date, Forbes said there is a big jump in him. He just has to bring everything together.
"I have another meeting on Tuesday in France, so, hopefully, I can get some rest, go out there and jump far," he said.
"I feel very good this year. I feel like I am getting stuff right. It's just in different instances I haven't put it together. But once I do that, I believe I can go into the 8.40m territory. Sky is the limit for me right now. I just have to put it together."
