Simone Facey: I have sub-11 run in me
SIMONE FACEY believes that having opened up her season positively, it's only a matter of time before she runs sub-11 seconds over the 100m.
Facey, 31, finished in sixth place at the Birmingham Diamond League yesterday, registering a time of 11.24 seconds. The diminutive sprinter told The Gleaner that everything seems to be going well for her at the moment, but she knows she needs to be quicker.
"The final was a better run race than the heats," Facey admitted in her post-race interview.
She added: "I'm happy with where I finished based on my run in the first round. I executed better, but I can still improve my first 30 metres of the race.
"There is work to do and I just have to go back to the drawing board. I run in the 200 metres in Oslo next and then the trials in Jamaica, but after that I'm not sure."
Facey knows that in order to mix it with the world's elite sprinters, she must get quicker, but she believes the feat is well within her reach.
"I know I have a 10-second run in me. I just have to keep working at it. I started the season with an 11-flat, so I know it's there. I just have to bring it out."
