Rescheduled games to decide pairings

The final positions in the Southern Basketball Conference (League) will be decided this evening following rescheduled preliminary games at the Arnett Gardens courts at 6 p.m.

In the opening game, EXED Heats take on Upper Room Church, while hosts Arnett Gardens oppose Majesty Gardens in the feature at 7:30 p.m.

On the weekend at Arnett Gardens, the home team turned back Camperdown Giants 78-75 in a closely contested game. Omar Barnes led the Rockers with a game-high 39 points, with good support from Kwame Lawrence with 15 points. Shaquille Allen posted 27 points for the Giants and Dasean Boyd 15.


Prolific grant


EXED Heats were also 64-48 winners against G.C. Foster Lions, thanks to Cordell Grant's 23 points and 11 rebounds. Michael Johnson top-scored for G.C. Foster with 18 points.

In the other game at that venue, Real Lion decimated Delacree Park for a massive 73-37 win. Kemar McLeish, with 27 points and 11 rebounds, while Deano Hibbert, with 17 points, led the way for the Lions.

In the lone game at Upper Room Church, the home team edged St George's Saints 67-66 in a nail-biting encounter.

Going into today's final games, Pembroke Hall lead the points table after 17 games with 16 wins a one loss, while Arnett, one of the teams with a game in hand, are next with 15 wins, followed by Spartans and the Jamaica Defence Force with 13 wins each. Upper Room Church, EXED and Real Lions trail, respectively, with 11 wins, then come G.C. Foster with 10 wins and St George's Saints with nine from their 17 matches.

Majesty Gardens complete the top 10, but they are one of three teams, along with Portmore Flames and Swifts Sons, on eight wins, although Flames have a game remaining.

Delacree are next, tied with Giants on six wins, followed by Central Village with three wins, Blazing Panthers with two and Aqua Youth with one, to complete the 16 teams that will contest the play-offs.

Duhaney Park, who finished the season without a win in 17 matches, is the only team that will not be in the play-offs.

The play-offs are schedule to start on Thursday, with the top placed teams facing the lowest placed teams in respective order, for example first will play 16th and second play 15th.
