Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz crashed out of this year’s Copa America Centenario Cup following their 2-0 loss to Mexico last night at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena California.

Javier Hernandez in the 18th minute and Qribea Peralto in the 82nd minute were the goalscorers for the Mexicans.

However, the Reggae Boyz only had themselves to blame for the defeat as they squandered several scoring chances in both halves of the game.

Striker Clayton Donaldson should have given the Jamaicans the lead in the seventh minute but with the Mexican goalkeeper at his mercy he shot wide from 10 yards.

Midfielder Garath McCleary also came close to giving the Reggae Boyz the lead a few minutes later but his point blank shot was saved by the Mexican keeper.

The Reggae Boyz were made to made to pay for their early misses when Hernandez arrived between two defenders to head home past Jamaica’s goalkeeper.

The Jamaicans fought bravely in the second half but poor finishing from their attackers let them down.

With six points, the Mexicans are now atop the group on goal difference, ahead of Venezuela who are also on six points.

Uruguay on zero are third ahead of the Reggae Boyz.
