Santa Clara, California (CMC):

Jamaica suffered a 3-0 loss to Uruguay to finish their campaign winless and without scoring in the Copa America Centenario here Monday night.

The Reggae Boyz conceded mid way through the first half to trail at the interval before goals in the second half, including an own goal, condemned them to six straight defeats in the tournament.

Uruguay, once again playing without Barcelona star Luis Suarez, went ahead in the 21st minute from the boot of Abel Hernadez at Levi's Stadium.

Hernadez lifted the ball into the net with his right foot from seven yards out after receiving a pass from Nicolas Lodeiro as goalkeeper Andre Blake charged off his line to narrow the gap.

Uruguay's lead extended in the 66th minute when Lodeiro delivered a cross from the left side of the box that first deflected off Hernandez's foot, before rebounding off Je-Vaughn Watson and crossing the line.

Substitute Matias Corujo converted two minutes from regulation time to seal victory for the South Americans who snapped a five-game Copa America winless streak.

Corujo picked up on a long clearance from goalkeeper Fernando Muslera before eluding a diving Blake with a right-footed shot from 12 yards out.

Both teams were ruled out of contention for the knockout stages after losses in their first two games

The Jamaicans, the only team to not score a goal in the tournament, are currently competing in the fourth round of CONCACAF qualifying for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

They return to action September 2 against Group B rivals Panama.

The other Caribbean team that joined Jamaica in the Copa America tournament was Haiti but they ended their campaign winless as well, going down to Ecuador 4-0 on Sunday.
