Reigning national shotgun champion Christian Sasso signalled his return to championship form ahead of next month's National Skeet Championships by shooting an excellent 91 to capture last Sunday's Proven Wealth-sponsored Father's Day Skeet Challenge, held at the Knolford Polo Ranch in Riversdale, St Catherine.

It was a very competitive event, however, which saw the defending national champion stave off the challenge of Craig Simpson, who was second with 90 birds.

The course, set by veteran shooter Bruce Duquesnay, provided a mix of international-type targets that kept some of the island's most top shooters on their toes.

In the A Class, Geoffrey Ziadie took top spot with 86 birds, while Marc Barnes, with an impressive 89, won the B Class.

Roman Tavares-Finson, who shot 77, won the C Class as well as the Sub Junior title, while James Todd impressed with 79 birds to win the D class and achieve promotion to C class.

Other winners included Tomas Hudson with 71 in E class, first-time winner Winston Quest, who shot 58 to win the Hunter's Class, while Nickolai Clarke shot 78 to take the Junior clas, and Marguerite Harris, 58, to win the Ladies Class.

Khaleel Azan, president of the Jamaica Skeet Club, congratulated all the winners and thanked those who turned up for the shoot. He also had a big 'thank you' for title sponsors Proven Wealth, Zoukies Trucking, Securipro, Wisynco, Rum-Bar Rum, Knolford Polo Ranch and Arts and Photo.
