Garel replaces Price as PLCA GM
Experienced administrator Patricia 'Pat' Garel will replace Andrew Price as the general manager of the Premier League Clubs' Association (PLCA) ahead of the next Red Stripe Premier League season, it has been announced.
In a release to the media yesterday evening, PLCA chairman Edward Seaga noted that Price would depart office effective June 27, 2016, to take up a new position elsewhere.
It is unclear what were the reasons behind the sudden change, but Seaga informed through his release that Garel was selected by PLCA directors as his replacement at the body's first meeting ahead of the 2016 - 2017 season, held on June 21.
Garel will commence her new duties on June 28, 2016.
"This serves to officially inform you that Mr Andrew Price, who has served commendably in the position of general manager of the Premier League Clubs' Association (PLCA) since July 2013, will depart office effective 27th June, 2016, to take up a new position elsewhere," the release read.
"As chairman (Edward Seaga), on behalf of the directors of the Premier League Clubs' Association, I wish Mr Price all the best in his new position. Mr Price will continue to serve as a director at the PLCA and the Professional Football Association of Jamaica," it continued.
Garel has served for many years in the position of assistant company secretary and has extensive experience in local and international sports administration.
