Cavalier top Cayman Airways Under-14 tournament
Cavalier Soccer Club convincingly defeated England's number-three ranked Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 to top the Cayman Airways Under-14 Club Championship, which ended last Saturday.
Two teams each from Jamaica, Cayman, England and the United States took part in the tournament.
Shanthomoi Brown and Dwayne Atkinson were the scorers for Cavalier.
Brown, the tournament's most valuable player and leading scorer, found the net after six minutes. He outran the Tottenham defence to record his ninth goal of the tournament.
The English players tried hard to get back on even terms, but Atkinson put the icing on the cake by scoring a memorable goal. He dribbled past four players from the half-line to score in the 66th minute.
| Cavalier had earlier in the tournament defeated English club Gillingham 2-0, International Football Futsal Development Campus from Dallas, USA 11-0 and Cayman Sports Academy 5-1 to advance to the semi-finals. In the semi-finals they defeated local rivals Harbour View 2-0.
Tournament favourites Tottenham slammed Cayman's Sunset 7-0, Revs Soccer Club of USA 5-0, and edged Harbour View 3-2 in the preliminary round then defeated Gillingham 3-1 in extra time to set up a final involving the two unbeaten teams.
Cavalier's team was coached by Raymond Watson and he was assisted by Michael Rose. Paul Maxwell is the manager.
