#JaSeniorTrials: National record holder Rusheen McDonald advances to men’s 400m semi-finals

MVP’s Rusheen McDonald, the national record holder, clocked 45.99 advancing to the semi-finals of the men’s 400m at the JAAA National Senior Championships.

McDonald posted 45.99 seconds to win heat one ahead of St Jago High’s Nathon Allen, 46.18 seconds.

Peter Mathews of Racers Track and Field Club was the fastest qualifier having posted 45.75 seconds to win heat five ahead of Fitzroy Dunkley, 46.16 seconds, of Louisiana State University.

Calabar High’s Christopher Taylor ran the first 350m smoothly but was pressed in the final 50m. He, however, prevailed to win heat three in a time of 46.25 seconds ahead of Jonia McDonald, 46.9 seconds.

National champion Javon Francis won his heat in a time of 47.22 seconds with Ricardo Chambers taking the final heat of seven in 46.60 seconds.

The top three from each heat plus the three fastest will advance to the semi-finals scheduled for tomorrow.
