Jamaica will be looking to increase its medal count at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro Brazil with two finals scheduled to be contested this evening.

In the first final, scheduled for 8:30 p.m., Elaine Thompson, who has already won Gold in the women’s 100m, will attempt to complete the sprint double when she competes in the women’s 200m.

She will squarely off with main rival Dafne Schippers of the Netherlands.

The women’s 100m hurdles final is scheduled to run off less than half-an-hour later and three Jamaicans will be seeking to book their spots.

The three, Shermaine Williams, Nickeisha Wilson and Megan Simmonds, will contest the semi-finals, which are scheduled to begin at 6.45 p.m.

Williams is set to run out of lane 2 in the first semi-final while Wilson and Simmonds are slated to run out of lanes nine and three in the second and third semi-finals respectively.

Jamaican sprint star Usain Bolt will also continue his quest for a total of nine Olympic gold medals as the semi-finals of the men’s 200m are also on for this evening.

Bolt will run out of lane 4 in the second semi-final, set to run off at 8 o’clock. The other Jamaicans in the event are Nickel Ashmeade, who will run out of lane 4 in the first semi-final and Yohan Blake, who will run out of lane 6 in semi-final three.
