Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) vice-president and chairman of the competitions committee, Raymond Anderson, has promised that there will be a full professional league locally starting in 2018.

Anderson made the announcement during the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) launch last Thursday evening at Red Stripe, Spanish Town Road.

"Come 2018, we will have a full professional league," Anderson informed.

"We (JFF) have been working on it from last season. We have put rules in place for the clubs to follow and we now have 50 per cent of the players at each club on contracts.

"Then it will move up to 75 per cent (this season) and then 100 per cent in 2018. The JFF is fully on board with this," he added.
