Campbell dominates Alliance Buccaneer Golf Tournament

Professional golfer Fabian Campbell continued his impressive run at the 21st Alliance Buccaneer Memorial Golf Tournament at the Caymanas Golf Club on Sunday to take the two-day tournament by a whopping fourteen strokes ahead of Lloyd Campbell and fifteen strokes more than defending champion Wesley Brown and Michael Rowe, who both tied for third position.

The winner ended day one on an impressive seven under par 65, being the only golfer to shoot an under-par score in the tournament. On day two, he shot par 36 on the front nine and three over par 39 on the back nine to end the day on 75 or three over par. His two-day total was 140 or four under par for the tournament.

The day-two scores for the pros were Fabian Campbell 140 (65 and 75), Lloyd Campbell 154 (76 and 78), Wesley Brown 155 (76 and 78) and Michael Rowe 155 (80 and 75) who both tied for third.

In the Men section, Tommy Lee and Sean Morris both ended the two days on 155 or eleven over par and had to be separated by a shoot off. Lee got the better of Morris after shooting 4 to Morris' 5 to take the amateur section. Sean Green who lead the field at the end of day one shot 159 for the two days to take third spot.


Young female golfer Kei Harris, who was in second position at the end of day one, powered her way ahead of day one leader Maggie Lyn and Michelle Gabay. Harris' day two score was 157, while Lyn ended on 159 and Gabay was nine strokes back on 168.

Former West Indies and Jamaica cricketer Jeffrey Dujon continued his day one lead to narrowly take the Men Super Senior category after posting 157 for the two days. Dave Lyn who was in third on day one closed the tournament in second place on one stroke back 157, while George Hugh took third place on 158.

The 21st staging of the two-day Alliance Buccaneer Memorial Golf Tournament which is Alliance's ninth consecutive year of sponsorship teed-off on Saturday and Sunday at the Caymanas Golf Club.

The tournament featured two different competitions which ran concurrently. A two-day - 36-hole Jamaica Golf Association (JGA) qualifier while the other which was played on Sunday was a Stableford competition.

This year's competition was played in the memory of six of Jamaica's outstanding past national representatives, namely Milton 'Buddy' Josephs, Izette Rhone, Lenan Lennie Chin, John Fulford, Al Chong and Mark Chin.
