Jamaica Scorpions yesterday secured the island's return to the regional one day final for the first time since the 2011-2012 season, after a 292-run hammering of defending West Indies Regional Super50 Tournament champions Trinidad and Tobago Red Force at Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua.

Powered by centuries from Chadwick Walton, who slammed 117, Jermaine Blackwood, whose unbeaten 108 helped to break the spirits of the already battered Red Force bowlers and Rovman Powell fell five short of a century after falling for 95 in the final over as the Scorpions racked up an amazing 434 runs in their 50 overs.

Opener Steven Taylor, who was the first to go after a 174 runs opening partnership with Walton offered good support with his 88 runs knock, which came against Ravi Rampaul's two wickets, which came at the expense of 83 runs.

When they were sent in to bat, the defending champions were immediately on the back foot with the Evin Lewis, Kyle Hope, Kjorn Ottley and Nicholas Alexis all returned to the pavilion before the 50-runs mark.

Only Jason Mohammed, who managed 62 runs (not out) provided any real resistance to the Scorpions attack, which was led by Powell, who again showed his all-round abilities to claim five for 36 with the ball. Jerome Taylor helped himself to three for 27 and Renard Leveridge claimed two for 31 to rip through the Red Force attack and secure the win for the Jamaicans.

Jamaica's last trip to the regional one day final ended in success over Trinidad and Tobago in 2012 what was their latest of eight titles won.
