KINGSTON:

The 2017 Everyone's a Winner The Best Dressed Chicken Road Race Series got off to a fast start on Sunday at the Hope Botanical Gardens with Lenford Adams and Juliett Dinnal securing the top overall male and female titles respectively in the 5K run.

Adams posted a time of 17:41 to win ahead of Shawn Pitter 17:56 and Jerome Kirby 18:23. Juliette Dinnal returned 22:18 to finish ahead of Sovereena Silburn, 24:30 and Victoria Nelson, 24:33 for second and third respectively. The race was the first event of the two-part series, with the second running slated for June 18.

Adams, who was racing for the first time this season, said the event was a good start for the year.

"I enjoyed the run today. It is a good route, and I think the other competitors all enjoyed the competition from each other. I knew most of the guys competing, including Pitter, but I had a strategy and I stuck to it. That proved to be the difference," said Adams.
