Morgan targets specific meets
Jason Morgan, the 2014 Commonwealth Games discus bronze medallist, has made some changes to how he trains, with a view to being at his best as the National Senior Championships approach. The changes are yielding positive results as he says that his training is going well. The Jamaican giant said that he is focused and more dedicated than ever.
“Practice is going good,” he said. “(I am) working on some things. I see good consistency, so I’m excited.”
His approach to big throws is different, too. “I’m working on targeting the next two weeks going into Trials, he declared.
“Normally, over the years, I would, say, Throw as far as you can whenever you can’,” the 2012 Olympian said. “I’m not trying to do that, I’m trying to target specific meets to throw real far.”
Big throws by 2016 Olympian Fedrick Dacres and other throwers earned praise from Morgan. “I’m happy for them,” he said. “You know I’m always wishing everybody the best, but my focus is to make sure I take care of me and encourage everybody along the way.”
Reminded indirectly of a 2016 campaign where he was overlooked for Olympic team selection though he had achieved the qualifying mark, he affirmed, “the past year has definitely taught me to stay focused and dedicated even more”.
