Charlemont High past student Asafa Powell made a presentation of PUMA products to the school recently.

Powell and his sponsors PUMA, presented aspiring athletes at the school with training shoes, shirts and spikes as Charlemont looks to continue the development of the school's athletics programme. The presentation ceremony, attended by staff, students and Powell, was held on June 8 at the school.

Principal Garth Gayle thanked Powell and PUMA on behalf of the staff and students. He also announced that the Asafa Powell Development track meet will be held at the school next season and planning is already under way with the full support of Powell and his team.

Gayle noted that this meet is in response to the school's accomplishments at the recently concluded ISSA Boys and Girls' Championship, where, for the first time, 33 students qualified although none received medals. In addition, the students placed sixth in the male category at Central Championships.
