Young table tennis player off to Paraguay
Liana Campbell, the Caribbean Region Table Tennis Federation's under-11 champion, is in Paraguay to learn more about the game. Campbell is participating in an International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) camp for young players in Asuncion, the nation's capital. The camp will run from today until Saturday.
Campbell, one of four Caribbean players to make the trip, was selected on the basis of her wins at a ITTF Hopes tournament and at the recent Mini-Cadet and Pre-Cadet Championships, which were both staged in Kingston last month. She is just the second Jamaican to be called to a international ITTF Hopes camp. She follows Angels Academy teammate Kelsey Davidson, who attended the camp last year in Lima, Peru.
Campbell's trip has been made possible through sponsorship from Lannaman and Morris Shipping, Derbran Marine Shipping, Kingston Wharves and Seacrest Trading.
The Wolmer's first-former is being accompanied by her parents Karen and Leon on the trip to Paraguay.
