Speid bemoans dropped points
Wolmer's Boys' technical director of football, Rudolph Speid, said that he was very disappointed with his team's poor shooting display against Tivoli Gardens High in their ISSA/FLOW Manning Cup Group A game, which ended 0-0 at Tivoli High yesterday.
Wolmer's, who are one of the favourites for this year's title, created a number of clear-cut chances, but they failed to convert from close range.
In fact, striker Rivaldo English, who is the son of former national player Irvino English, missed a couple of easy opportunities for Wolmer's in the first half.
Romane Lewis was also guilty of squandering a number of chances for Wolmer's in the first half.
With his father watching from the sidelines, English thought he had given Wolmer's the lead midway the second half, but his effort from 12 yards went off target.
SHOULD HAVE WON
Speid said he was very disappointed with the performance of his attackers because they should have gotten all three points.
"We created a lot of chances that we should have put away," said Speid. "The grass was too high and the pitch was bumpy, but both teams were playing on it. But I thought that we got some really good looks and didn't make use of them," he said.
Speid added: "But hats off to Tivoli. They got stuck in and they played very hard, and it is still good to get a point away from home, but I thought we should have gotten all three today."
Despite the draw, Wolmer's remains atop the group on 10 points on goal difference, ahead of Tivoli, who is also on 10 points.
Meanwhile, Tivoli also created a number of chances in the second stanza but failed to convert them.
Tivoli coach Tommy Ricketts was happy with the point.
"I am comfortable with the result because I thought we played well against Wolmer's. It showed that we are prepared for the competition this season to take on the challenge," said Ricketts.
