Argentina coach calls up Aguero

Argentina coach Jorge Sampaoli has called up Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero for two friendly matches in November and again left out Gonzalo Higuain.

Argentina travel to Moscow to face World Cup hosts Russia on November 10 and then face another team yet to be decided.

Sampaoli left Juventus striker Higuain out since he took over in June. Higuain has scored 32 goals in 69 games for the national side.

"It is up for us to analyse Higuain to see whether he will go the World Cup or not," Sampaoli said.

Aguero has been in fine form for City this season, scoring six league goals in as many games. A bone fracture that kept him out of the last two World Cup qualifiers, against Peru and Ecuador.

Lin has knee surgery, will miss rest of the season

The Brooklyn Nets say Jeremy Lin has had surgery repair a ruptured patella tendon in his right knee and will miss the remainder of the season.

The procedure was performed yesterday at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. The team says the surgery was successful and Lin is expected to make a full recovery.

Lin was hurt Wednesday during the Nets' first game of the season when he landed hard after a drive to the basket in the fourth quarter of a 140-131 loss to Indiana.
