PANAMANIAN jockey Dick Cardenas booted home three winners in yesterday's, 10-race card, including SIEMPRE BUENO, in the 1200-metre Ahwhofah Trophy, maintaining his terrific strike rate since returning to Caymanas Park mid-September.

The 2011 champion jockey teamed up with trainer Anthony Nunes for a three-timer - 2-1 chance ISINBAYEVA in the opening event, KANALOA at 5-1 in the sixth, and 9-5 favourite SIEMPRE BUENO in the day's feature.

Cardenas put SIEMPRE BUENO to the front and fended off a persistent challenge from DANCING QUEEN to win the overnight allowance event by a length in a stakes record 1:11.2.

A 2015 classic campaigner, placing fourth in the 2000 Guineas and Governor's Cup, SIEMPRE BUENO was winning his third race in five starts since returning from a two-year lay-up in May.

However, yesterday's victory was his first on the round course after twice winning off the lay-up at five furlongs straight.

Meanwhile, English import KALAMATA scored a hard-fought win over stalemate WESTERN WARRIOR in the co-feature Royal Dad Trophy, closing strongly to win by a neck at 1820 metres, with Robert Halledeen aboard.

Racing continues at Caymanas Park on Wednesday.
