Sinkas Family at the double

Fans of the Sinkas Family Football team had a lot to cheer about on New Year's Day. They walked away with both the junior and senior titles as the Eastern Extravaganza Football season ended at Mountain View Oval.

Sinkas first captured the Under-15 crown, defeating Flat Bush 4-3 on penalties following a 0-0 scoreline after regulation time.

The feature match of the day, which brought together the senior teams, also required penalties to decide the champions. Sinkas Family dethroned last year's winners Common 3-2 on penalties. Tevin Scott, McGee, Nicholas Hamilton scored their penalty kicks for Sinkas.

The Eastern Extravaganza organisers used sports to unite the various communities that are located in the Mountain View area. In recent weeks, conflict between rival gangs had created tension. The area is quiet now after residents and political representatives made a peace walk through the Mountain View Avenue community.

God Bless win three titles in a row

God Bless, for the third year running, have conquered all to lift the netball title in the Eastern Extravangaza Netball League. They defeated main challengers, Portmore's Ken's Wildflower, 21-18 in a pulsating final at the Mountain View Oval on New year's Day.

God Bless' goal shooter, Tashlieka 'Pretty' Laird, led the way with 13 goals for the winners. Goal shooter Janica Anderson (seven goals), Kareem Allen (six goals), and Rhoda Dixon (five goals) shared the scoring for Ken's Wildflower.

Meanwhile, Alexander defeated August Town 28-20 to claim third.
