Dench set to have first runner in Grand National

The queen of the big screen is taking on the toughest challenge in the sport of kings.

Oscar-winning actress Judi Dench is set to have her first runner in the Grand National, the world's most gruelling steeplechase, after entering As De Mee in the race at Aintree in April.

As De Mee, which is owned by Dench jointly with businessman Andy Stewart, has won at the Liverpool course before, in the 2016 Grand Sefton Handicap Chase.

The seven-year-old bay gelding is trained by Paul Nicholls.

Knicks' Porzingis has successful surgery on torn ACL

All-Star forward Kristaps Porzingis of the New York Knicks has undergone surgery for a torn ligament in his left knee.

The team says the repair of his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) was a success. He is expected to be sidelined for much of next season. The operation Tuesday was at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan.

Porzingis was hurt on February 6 when he landed after a dunk and crashed to the court against Milwaukee. The 7-foot-3 Latvian was averaging 22.7 points and an NBA-leading 2.4 blocked shots. He had been chosen for his first All-Star Game.
