Cricket World Cup Qualifier | West Indies too strong for PNG

HARARE, Zimbabwe, (CMC):

West Indies defeated Papua New Guinea by six wickets, in their second Group A match of the ICC World Cup qualifiers at Old Hararians on Thursday.

PNG were bowled out for 200 runs off 42.4 overs, with Assad Vala top scoring with 57 runs.

He received support from Tony Ura 37, Mahuru Dai 35 and Norman Vanua 35; this against the bowling of Carlos Brathwaite 5-27 and Nikita Miller 2-25.

In their reply, the West Indies reached their target in 43 overs with Jason Holder leading the chase with 99 not out. Shai Hope was also not out on 49, while Marlon Samuels scored 24.

The West Indies will face Ireland on Saturday at 2:30 a.m. in their next match in the qualifiers.
