Calabar High School kick-started their title defence at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Athletics Championships with a quinella in the Class Two boys long jump competition at the National Stadium on Wednesday.

The pair of Lamar Reid and Jordan Turner jumped an identical distance of 7.23m to secure the gold and silver medals for the Red Hills Road - based Lions.

Reid, however, was crowned champion based on his impeccable scorecard.

The result gave Calabar maximum 16 points from what was the first boys final of the championships.

Third place went to Waukeem Walters from Wolmer's, 7.10m.
