Having finished third in last year's final to her teammate and event record holder Shantae Foreman, Excelsior's Daniel Hinds is aiming to turn the tables on her opponents in today's final of the girls Class Three high jump competition at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Athletics Championships at the National Stadium. The 15-year-old Hinds secured her spot in today's final with leap of 1.65m in her first attempt during yesterday's qualifying round.

The soft-spoken Hinds, who has a personal best of 1.70m in the event, said she is very confident of winning the event today.

"I am feeling excited because I plan for this and I have training for this all season and so I am going into the final to give my best and show everyone what I am made of," said Hinds.

"I am very confident because I know that I can do it and once I push myself then I know I will get the gold medal," she said.

"My season has gone well because every track meet that I went to this season I have given my best and so I know what I need to do to win this final," Hinds said.

Foreman, who also leapt 1.65m to qualify for today's final, along with Annishka McDonald who also leapt 1.65m in qualifying, are expected to provide strong competition for Hinds in today's final.

Hinds added that she is not phased by the her opponents because she knows that she has the ability and the determination to come out on top today.
