Urban-area Grace Shield champions Innswood High, will attempt to gain their first hold on the ISSA Spalding Cup, when they face rural area Grace Headley Cup winners St Elizabeth Technical (STETHS) at STETHS today.

The three-day affair, which is set to get under way at 10 a.m., will see STETHS, who were dethroned by Papine High, starting as favourites.

The Clive Ledgister-conditioned unit has several national Under-15, Under-17 and Under-19 represent-atives, including all-rounder AndrÈ McCarthy, batsman Zavier Burton and Nigel Palmer.

Innswood, in the meantime, coached by Kirk Gordon, will be led by West Indies Under-19 batting all-rounder Jeavor Royal and Jamaica Under-19 batsman Carlos Brown.

"STETHS will be a challenge, but I have the confidence in my team to do well," said Gordon. "We have the players, and led by Royal, we just have to apply ourselves, and take our chances."

STETHS defeated Holmwood Technical to win the Headley Cup, while Innswood overcame the challenge of Excelsior for the Grace Shield title.
