Penn Relays | Carter among 25 athletes named on Jamaica's Penn Relays team
The Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) has named a 25 - member team to represent the country at the Penn Relays, currently underway at the University of Pennsylvania's Franklin Field in Philadelphia.
The Jamaicans will feature in the highly-anticipated USA vs The World series, which includes men's and women's 4x100m, 4x400m and Sprint Medley relays.
Several athletes, who competed at the recent Commonwealth Games have been listed, including 400m silver medal winner Anastasia Le-Roy, Demish Gaye, Natasha Morrison, Oshane Bailey and Rhonda Whyte.
Also among the 12 males athletes announced is veteran sprinter Nesta Carter, who is still awaiting a ruling on his appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), into his retrospective disqualification from the 2008 Olympic Games. Carter was, however, not provisionally suspended and it was confirmed by the IAAF that the athlete was free to compete pending the outcome of his appeal to CAS.
The 13-member female squad also includes some familiar names, in Olympic 100m silver medal winners Kerron Stewart and Sherone Simpson, as well as Schillonie Calvert-Powell, Kaliese Spencer and Christine Day.
Maurice Wilson will once again take charge of the team as head coach and will receive support from Jermaine Shand, with JAAA general secretary Garth Gayle serving as team manager.
