DIAMOND LEAGUE SCHEDULE | McLeod, Thompson face tough tests in Doha
Five Jamaicans will be in action at the season-opening Doha Diamond League on Friday, as the 2018 outdoor season kicks into gear.
Elaine Thompson will look to get back to winning ways when she starts the defense of her 100m Diamond Race title when she lines up in a competitive field at the Qatar Sports Club.
Thompson, who will be joined by fellow Jamaican Jura Levy in the event, will line up alongside World Indoors top three Murielle Ahoure, Marie Josee Ta Lou, and Mujinga Kambundji with Dafne Schippers and Blessing Okagbore also expected to make things rough for the double Olympic sprint champion.
Danielle Williams, the world champion back in 2015 in the 100m hurdles, will face a battalion of Americans, including world record holder Kendra Harrison, Jasmine Stowers, Sharicka Nelvis and Dawn Harper-Nelson.
Olympic and world champion in the 110m hurdles, Omar McLeod, has promised to do more sprinting and he is living up to that word, as he lines up in the 200m where he will be joined by another Jamaican Rasheed Dwyer, in a line-up that is sure to really put his flat race potential to the test.
Canadian Andre De Grasse, world champion Ramil Guliyev and Trinidad and Tobago's Jareem Richards, should make this one an interesting showdown.
