MBU wants changes in management of Premier League
Montego Bay United (MBU) has given more details on its recent announcement of a withdrawal from the 2018-19 season of the Red Stripe Premier League.
Sandra Christie, chief operating officer and director of administration at MBU, told The Gleaner that the main reason they have decided to suspend their participation in the nation's top-flight league is because they are not satisfied with the way it is being managed.
"We are choosing to suspend our participation in the 2018-19 season of the Premier League because we are not satisfied with how the league is being managed," said Christie.
She believes that the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF), the Premier League Clubs Association (PLCA), and the Professional Football Association of Jamaica are not sticking to their mandate as it relates to the Premier League.
Christie said there is a lack of professionalism in the administration of local football.

"Why should we continue to bother ourselves with a league that is not growing, reorganising, or reshaping the presentation of football?" she asked.
Christie added: "Why should we continue to be stuck in the old ways where it becomes more self-serving rather than serving the players? Why should we continue to spend in excess of $25 million every year on just players' salaries when a league only sees it fit to give you $300,000 a month or find ways to penalise you? Why should we travel to Kingston every single Tuesday at the expense of the club just to sit in PLCA meetings, which go nowhere, when we have the services of Internet or conference call? It's pointless."
The MBU administrator called on the JFF to step in as according to her, the country's football is trending downward.
