Junior shooter Danzell Knight, a student at the American International School of Kingston, will stage a charity skeet shoot competition today with a target of $500,000 to benefit the Jamaica Society for the Blind.

The tournament will be held at the Jamaica Skeet Club in Portmore. Participants will include shooters from all ages and classes, and is set to start at 10 a.m. and go on until 2 p.m. The shoot which will have 14 stations has already attracted just under 100 participants.

Knight has received extensive support from his coach Khaleel Azan who is helping to organise the tournament. Azan said that he was pleased that one of his young charges was so aware that he decided to stage a tournament to support a very worthy but needy organisation.

Knight said that he decided to stage the tournament after one of his family members, who became blind recently was greatly assisted by the society and he saw the need to help them so that they could help other people.
