Capturemyship to nab rivals late in Race 10

Richard Azan's CAPTUREMYSHIP.

STRICTLY at the weights, last year's Lotto Sprint winner, TALENTED TONY K, who carried 126lb and led the Easter Sprint to the furlong pole two months ago, should be the horse to beat on paper with 111lb in this afternoon's overnight allowance at the same distance.

However, there are two speedsters, who had chased in the Easter Sprint, PAPA ALBERT and POLLY B, who, along with LITTLE BIG HORN and WONG DON, could keep an ageing TALENTED TONY K honest enough for back-to-form CAPTUREMYSHIP to nail him inside the last half-furlong.

At age seven, Patrick Lynch's TALENTED TONY K is getting on in age at seven and, even on an off-day, should have done better than finishing next-to-last, beaten 10 lengths behind MR UNIVERSE at 1000 metres straight after the Easter Sprint.

It could have been the draw, postposition one, that took out Lynch's runner but he has noticeably not been holding his gallop since winning back-to-back races last summer, including the grade one Lotto Sprint, beating CAMPESINO and CHACE THE GREAT.

A BRAVE SOUL

It will take a brave soul to go against TALENTED TONY K, who used his speed to win the 2014 Governor's Cup. However, Richard Azan's CAPTUREMYSHIP is worth a punt after winning easily at 1300 metres, three weeks ago, clocking 1:19.2, behind a six-furlong split of 1:12.0.

Though CAPTUREMYSHIP would have preferred a milder pace, if TALENTED TONY K buckles under pressure, Azan's runner is preferred over the other run-on horses.

CAPTUREMYSHIP's turn of foot makes him a dangerous closer at 115lb with Dick Cardenas. The four-year-old colt finished 1100 metres in 1:06.3 on May 5, carrying 123lb, when second to MR UNIVERSE. He was very early at the half-mile, only two lengths off MR UNIVERSE, who returned two weeks later to dismiss all but three of the runners in today's line-up.

Lynch has signalled that he means business by making two equipment changes, adding a figure eight and tongue tie, not to mention him exacting every pound by summoning featherweight rider Prince Holder, possibly the shortest jockey in the world.

However, CAPTUREMYSHIP is versatile, back to form and should have pace to run at in the home stretch.
