Tomorrow is Hall of Fame raceday at Caymanas park.

A number of Hall of Fame inductees from last year will have races named in their honour on the 11-race card. The programme begins with the running of the Dr St Aubyn Bartlett event over 1600 metres for the $180,000 claiming group. This will be followed by the Elias Haloute (second), Clive Evans and Linval McFarlane (third), Vin Edwards (sixth), David McKenzie (seventh) Dr Clifford Bradford (eighth) and Richard Azan (11th).

The feature race is the Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame Stakes Trophy over 1200 metres, which will be run as the tenth race.

Health Fair

A health fair will be one of the features of the day, with free health checks by the National Health Fund. The Jamaica Urban Transport Company (JUTC) will also be refilling smart cards, while the Registrar General's Department will assist patrons with information concerning birth, death, and marriage certificates.

Georgia Samuels, senior secretary and procurement officer at the Jamaica Racing Commission's (JRC), also noted that Sagicor would be giving away free vision, blood sugar, cholesterol, and blood pressure tests.

"Bashy Bus, an organisation that does free HIV tests, manicures and pedicures, will also be at the track.

Normalyn Haynes, JRC's personnel and administrative officer told The Gleaner that they would be doing everything to ensure a good day.

"We want them (patrons) to remember the Hall of Fame. It's an honour for them (inductees to have a race named after them). I don't know how popular it (Hall of Fame race day) is, but we always try our best to put on a memorable occasion," she said.

Former JRC chairman Denis Laylor would also be a special guest tomorrow.
