Tallawahs set 170 as Russell retires hurt after nasty blow
Jamaica Tallawahs were restricted to 170 for five off their allotted 20 overs in their Caribbean Premier League match against St Lucia Zouks at Sabina Park earlier this evening.
Glenn Phillips' half-century (58) was the highest scorer. He shared in a 87 runs fourth wicket partnership with Rovman Powell who scored 44 off 22.
After they were sent to bat by the Zouks, the Tallawahs got off to a poor start when captain Christopher Gayle went without scoring in the second over of the match.
Middle order batsman Andre Russell had to retire hurt without scoring after he was struck in the head by a nasty bouncer from Hardus Viljoen in the 11th over and was taken to the hospital for examination to determine the nature of the injury.
Faward Ahmed was the leading wicket taker for the Zouks with two for 28. Obey McCoy also picked up two for 32. Both teams are still searching for their first victory in competition after two matches.
