‘Diana’ secures top honours at RJYC tourney

Fishing boat Diana emerged overall winner of the Royal Jamaica Yacht Club fishing tournament which ended last weekend.

Diana, which is owned by Duncan Stewart, amassed 443 points to secure victory by a huge margin over nearest rivals Reel Music who came in second with 169 points, while third place went to Feeva with 115.5 points.

Diana’s impressive two-day outing saw its crew coming out with the heaviest Wahoo which weighed over 50 pounds as well as the heaviest barracuda.

Feeva landed the heaviest Tuna and kingfish with Integrity coming up with the heaviest bottom fish.

For their efforts, the crew aboard ‘Diana’ walked away with the top cash prize of $250,000, while Reel Music pocketed $150,000, with $50,000 going to Feeva. Some 17 boats entered the two-day tournament which saw close to 2,000 pounds of fish being caught.

After two events in the south coast fishing championship, Reel Music’ leads with a total of 55 points, followed by Diana on 49 points, with Feeva in a close third place with 47 points.

The third and final event in the series will take place at Bowden between March 20-21.
