VOX POP: Do you think that the municipal police in Montego Bay are doing a good job keeping vendors off the streets?
Do you think that the municipal police in Montego Bay are doing a good job of maintaining order, assisting with traffic management and keeping vendors off the streets?
"I believe in stopping people from parking on the street, they do a good job. A lot of people are afraid of them so they do not park and linger anymore. They are doing a good job where that is concerned. However, as it relates to street vending no. You can hardly find space to walk on the streets and it becomes worst especially on a holiday. So they do at times, in other instances no."
"I believe that they are doing a good job. The vendors - some of them are very hostile and you can't walk too close to their goods so they need to be relocated elsewhere. But the municipal police are doing their job. But more can be done by the parish council to relocate the vendors. The municipal police are doing the best they can as they have to work according to instructions."
"I believe that they are doing a good job. They are trying to curb the vending situation and they are taking some control of the traffic situation. The market area has improved, so I believe they are being effective. It is not as bad as before there is some improvement on their part. However, we still expect more from them."
