Vox pop - building fees

What measures can be put in place to ensure that persons pay over building fees to the parish councils?

Nerris Hawthorne: "The councils should be more vigilant. My problem is not that the persons are not complying.

"I am not sure if they are short of building officers, but in Hanover, the councillors and the officers must be more vigilant and see to it that people pay. They are not serving them with notices to pay. All over the parish, buildings are going up and the council could make a lot of money if they make a push for it."

Leonard Sharpe: "The councils would need good enforcement officers working to ensure that people abide by the law. If that is done, people will abide and they will get the funds. The councillors have a responsibility too. Each councillor should be looking out and reporting these illegal buildings because they would know what is happening in their respective divisions."
