The Guardian Group Jamaica officially launched its 'Keep it Alive' event at the Sunset Beach Resort in Montego Bay on Tuesday.

The run will be staged on April 25, 2015, and will see the proceeds being donated to the Cornwall Regional and St Ann's Bay hospitals.

President of Guardian Life Limited, Eric Hosin, said he was pleased with the response and support for the event from the St James Parish Council, the benefiting hospitals, as well as other key stakeholders.

Mayor of Montego Bay and chairman of the St James Parish Council, Councillor Glendon Harris, has fully endorsed the event and has commended Guardian Group for extending their night run to Montego Bay.

This year, the Guardian Group will also be staging another similar event in Kingston on Saturday, April 25. Both races begin at 7 p.m.

More than $9 million was raised at the inaugural 5K race event, which was held last June in Kingston. More than 6,000 participants attended that event, proceeds from which were donated to the University Hospital of the West Indies and the Victoria Jubilee Hospital.

As part of the added attraction for participants, there will be an 'After Race Lyme' exclusively for race participants at both events, where the awards will be presented, as well as an entertainment package featuring performances by local artistes.

Persons interested in registering for either or both races can visit the event website at www.keepitalive5k.com or call the 5K Secretariat at 927-4105. Additional updates can be retrieved from the event's Facebook page.
