The Miss Universe Jamaica franchise will be extending its reach into the North West Jamaica for the first time when new franchise manager, etiquette consultant Michelle Parkes, takes the event's official sashing ceremony to the Tropical Bliss Beach, in Montego Bay, on May 5.

During the much anticipated sashing ceremony, which is set for 6 p.m., the sponsors for the contest, which will feature sixteen contestants, will be announced.

"The contestants have been attending workshops in areas such as etiquette, public speaking, grooming and make-up application," said Parkes, who noted that the contestants are all exuding charm, intelligence, beauty, poise and energy.

"The contestants are all extremely confident that they will win the coveted crown," added Parkes.

The grand finale, which is slated to take place on June 25, 2016, also at Tropical Bliss Beach, promises to be a spectacular affair as the contestants are all setting their sights on winning the title, which will earn them the right to represent the North West region in the 2016 Miss Universe Pageant in July.

Following the sashing ceremony, there will be an after party hosted by DJ Crazy Neil, who is expected to deliver something special for the sponsors and patrons, who should have a grand time relaxing and unwinding with the beauties in the pleasing ambience of the Tropical Bliss Beach.

"Miss Universe is the most glamorous and prestigious beauty movement in the world," said Parkes. "It provides young ladies between 18 and 27 years with an excellent platform to improve their lives by providing employment, skills training, scholarships, international exposure and an opportunity to give back to society through charity adoption and scheduled programs designed to foster nation building.
