While best known as western Jamaica's premier health-care facility, the Cornwall Regional Hospital (CRH) has been in The news for a variety of issues. Here are some quotes from The Gleaner's archives on issues that have impacted the hospital:
"We have nothing to be ashamed of, and I think we did exceptionally well. It is unfortunate what took place in respect of the deaths of the neonates."
Calvin G. Brown, former chairman of Western Regional Health Authority (2015), in the wake of the controversial 2015 dead-baby scandal.
"This community is a part of Cornwall Regional Hospital and we want you to build that partnership, and in building that partnership, we ask that the incidents of crime be minimised."
Anthony Smikle, CEO at Cornwall Regional Hospital (2015), in response to the numerous gunshot victims being treated at the hospital.
"We are making arrangements to move them [overstaying patients] into a poor-relief situation. We are working on it right now."
Anthony 'Tony' Hart, chairman of the Western Regional Health Authority (2016), in reference to the overstaying patients at CRH who have refused to leave.
"I have never seen the hospital come together quite like the way it did. No one department could have done it. It really took team work the nursing staff in theatre, the ones on the wards and the lab technicians."
Dr Roy McGregor, consultant urological surgeon, 2013, following CRH's first kidney transplant.
