Russian President Vladimir Putin today faced sharp rebuke from Western leaders about his country’s role in the Ukraine crisis, as the G20 summit began in Australia.

It is reported that Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper greeted Putin with a handshake before telling him to “Get out of Ukraine”.

United States President Barack Obama said Moscow's aggression in Ukraine was a threat to the world.

The United Kingdom has threatened more sanctions unless Russia stopped destabilising its neighbour.

The two-day summit in Brisbane is focusing on promoting economic growth.

However, today’s first day was dominated by Ukraine, where pro-Russian separatists have been fighting government forces in eastern regions.
