Millions to escape deportation from US under new immigration plan
Nearly five million people living illegally in the US can escape deportation under sweeping changes to the American immigration system.
US President Barack Obama unveiled his plan, last night which he is enacting without Congress.
However, the president told the nation that what he proposed is not an amnesty.
There are about 11 million illegal immigrants in the US and this year children coming across the border prompted a crisis.
It is among the reasons the American president said he had to act.
Republicans have argued that the action is beyond Obama's authority and relations with the president will be strained.
