Cuban doctor begins experimental Ebola treatment
HAVANA (AP) :
A Cuban doctor who is being treated for Ebola in Switzerland is optimistic that an experimental drug will allow him to recover.
Official Cuban media reported yesterday that the wife of Felix Baez says he has begun treatment with the drug ZMapp and is feeling well.
The 43-year-old doctor was part of a Cuban medical team sent to Sierra Leone, one of the West African countries most affected by the Ebola outbreak. He came down with a fever on November 16 and later tested positive for the disease. He was transferred to Geneva last Thursday.
Baez spoke with his wife, Dr Vania Ferrer, last Friday. Cuban media reported that he is in stable condition.
