SAO PAULO (AP):

Brazil's Federal Prosecutor's office says politicians allegedly involved in the kickback-corruption scandal at the state-run energy company received monthly payments from construction and engineering firms and transferred part of the money to the ruling Workers' Party and its allies.

In a statement released last Friday night, the prosecutor's office said that every month the politicians received a percentage of the value of each contract signed with Petrobras.

Last Friday, the Supreme Court ruled that 54 top politicians should be investigated for alleged ties to the kickback scheme.

Among those to be investigated are senate leader Renan Calheiros and lower house leader Eduardo Cunha.
