US airstrike targets al-Qaida militant in Libya
The United States military said it launched an airstrike Saturday targeting a mid-level al-Qaida operative in Libya.
Pentagon spokesman Col Steve Warren said the military believed the strike was successful and hit the target, but he did not provide the name of the al-Qaida militant.
Warren said he did not know where the strike took place in Libya, and it was not known if it was a drone or manned aircraft. He said there were no US personnel on the ground in Libya for the strike.
Warren said the US was still assessing the results of the strike.
