Tropical storm drifting toward Mexico's Pacific coastline

MIAMI, (AP):

Tropical Storm Marty is drifting slowly northward toward Mexico's coast in the eastern Pacific.

A tropical storm warning was issued yesterday morning for a portion of Mexico's Pacific coast from Tecpan de Galeana to Lazaro Cardenas.

Marty is centred about 215 miles (340 kilometres) west-southwest of Acapulco.

Forecasters say the storm is moving to the north near 3 mph (6 kph) and has maximum sustained winds of 70 mph (110 kph).

Meanwhile, in the Atlantic, a tropical depression is expected to strengthen to a tropical storm later in the day.

The depression's maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph (55 kph). The depression is centred about 425 miles (680 kilometres) southwest of Bermuda and is moving west-northwest near five mph (7 kph).
