Officials seize more than half-ton of coke near Martinique
Authorities in the French Caribbean island of Martinique sad they have seized 1,180 pounts (535 kilograms) of cocaine destined for Europe.
Officials said in a statement yesterday that the drugs were found aboard a Belgium-flagged boat located more than 460 miles (740 kilometres) from Martinique. They said two unidentified suspects have been arrested.
Martinique's government said it is the fourth such seizure in the past two weeks involving a total of more than two tons (1.8 metric tons) of drugs. Authorities have seized more than eight tons (seven metric tons) of drugs so far this year.
