Journalist dies at hospital

The assistant editor of the Kaieteur News newspaper, Dale Andrews, has died. He was 45 years old.

Andrews died at hospital from heart and other complications.

Editor-in-chief at Kaieteur News, Adam Harris, said he was in "shock" at the death, saying that Andrews had up until last Friday night called the newspaper, even though he was on sick leave.

"Now, there is a big void in the Kaieteur News. He was one of the better reporters. He was also an assistant editor and those talents don't come cheap," Harris told the Demerara Waves Online News.

Andrews began his journalism career at the now defunct Guyana Broadcasting Corporation and then left for the Kaieteur News in the early 2000s.
