Polish visitor slain,

four detained

SANTO DOMINGO (AP):

Police in the Dominican Republic said yesterday that they have detained four people in the stabbing death of a 37-year-old man from Poland.

Authorities said an Italian man is among those detained and that they are seeking one additional suspect. A police statement did not disclose a possible motive in the slaying.

Adam Stanislaw Walczyk was found dead before dawn on Monday in Bavaro, which lies east of the capital of Santo Domingo. His profile on social media identified him as an administrator of online poker sites, and authorities said he had been a seasonal visitor to the Dominican Republic. He had been tied up and repeatedly stabbed.

Guards at the complex where he was staying said they had been attacked by several men who then entered the home where Walczyk was killed.

Police identified the suspects as Antonio Salermo, the 33-year-old Italian, and Manuel Alexander Feliz de Jesus, a 27-year-old mechanic, as well as Samuel Nunez Abreu, 28 and Aristy Sosa Batista, 29.
