Carnival expected to turn big bucks
Revellers have started to party in Brazil where this year's Carnival festivities, to take place from February 9t to 13t, are expected to inject over $11.14 billion into the economy.
Almost 11 million Brazilian travellers and 400,000 international tourists, are expected to party.
The cities most popular for this year's carnival, according to the government, are Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Salvador, Belo Horizonte, Recife and Olinda.
Together, say officials, they represent 65 per cent of all financial transactions in the period, forecast at $7.4 billion.
