Jamaica House 2012 to open on August 3

Published: Thursday August 2, 2012 | 4:13 pm Comments 0

The most exciting National House at the London 2012 Olympics - Jamaica House 2012 - will open its doors at the North Greenwich Arena (the O2) in south-east London on Friday, August 3 at 5.00 pm.

A signature international event of Jamaica’s 50th anniversary of Independence celebrations, Jamaica House is organised by Jampro, Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) and the Jamaica 50 Secretariat and will run until August 12.

The House will dynamically capture the essence of the island, highlighting its natural beauty, rich and vibrant culture, strong sporting tradition, high quality products, compelling business value proposition, and the warmth and creativity of the people.

Only a 15-minute commute by road from the Olympic Village, Jamaica House promises to deliver a most memorable experience to visitors.

It will be a celebration of all things Jamaican includes authentic Jamaican food, drink and products, giving visitors an interactive journey of the island’s proud history and streaming Olympics’ races where, some officials said, they hope to see Jamaican athletes attain medals in all their races and place “first, second and third” in the 100 metre men’s finals.

A key feature of Jamaica House will be “The Jamaica Shop”, which will have a range of Jamaican brands on sale from 11a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.

Visitors to the venue will also have the opportunity to schedule meetings to discuss the prospects of doing business in Jamaica. Access to Jamaica House is free, and the opening hours are 4 p.m. to 12 midnight.

Private business meetings will be scheduled between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., and the ensuing evening segment will feature social events and live entertainment.
